As a feminist I am horrified by the Supreme Court’s decision for trans women - this is why you should be too

As a feminist and a cis* woman I am horrified at the Supreme Court’s decision as to what identifies as a woman - and this is why you should be too.

On Wednesday, five judges at the UK Supreme Court unanimously ruled that a woman is defined by biological sex under the Equality Act 2010.

Therefore, this ruling is basically stating that trans women are not ‘real’ women.

This is absolutely horrifying and upsetting, and will affect how trans women are treated in all areas of society, specifically being excluded from female-only spaces.

30 things I learned turning 30

The lead up to turning 30 definitely felt like a momentous occasion, but then things were… the same. I didn’t wake up and feel as though I had magically changed overnight into this ultra-sophisticated put-together adult woman. I still felt as though I had no idea what I was really doing. Letter from the Editor / the struggle is real when another year is over

I can’t believe another year is over!

They say that time flies when you’re having fun, but time also flies when you reach the ripe old age of 30 (I’m kidding guys, 30 isn’t old). 🙃🙃🙃

So much has happened in 2024. For me personally, I’ve had many changes in my life; I turned 30, a long-term relationship ended and then a new one began, I was a bridesmaid for an incredible best friend, I got a new job, I visited new countries, saw new music, and met amazing new people while growing existing friendships.

Spreading ashes is not the same as shown in the movies - 5 things I wish I'd known before

It had started as a sunny day but the further north we got it became mistier and greyer and I felt more at peace, though I had the kind of trepidation in my stomach when you know that you’re doing something monumental.

I glanced anxiously at my suitcase in the luggage rack, making sure it was still there. Making sure he was still there. We were finally taking dad back home.

Her

All these lines.

All these words.

All these thoughts, scribbled across paper for a girl I do not see.

(Not know.)

Scribbled in ink, staining the paper.

                                    Staining my soul.

                                    …But she is—

                                    …she is beautiful…

It often needs a trigger warning, yet it happens every day. Often in homes, behind closed doors, sibling to sibling is the most common method - as heart breaking as that is to hear, it’s completely true. I suffered more than once with being victimised. But not at home, at school. A close school friend of mine, let’s call her Lara - for data protection reasons, abused me.
